Analysis & Key Takeaways
The math
- Goal: β¬20k MRR within 12 months at ~β¬35 ARPU = ~570 active subscribers
- Funnel math: 4M impressions β 64k visits β 4.5k signups β 1.9k activated β 170 new paying customers/month β 570 steady state
- At 30% monthly churn: need 170 new paying customers/month just to hold steady state
- Budget: β¬700β1,200/month, ~β¬15k total burn before self-sustaining
Critical constraints
| Constraint | Impact |
|---|---|
| LTV β β¬90β100 (β¬35 Γ 2.5β3 months) | CAC must stay under ~β¬35 β ads can't be the main channel |
| SEO ramps in 4β6 months | Months 1β4 rely on influencers + organic |
Highest-leverage moves
- Fix churn first β cutting 30%β20% drops required new customers from 170β115/month
- Fix activation β moving freeβpaid from 4%β6% has same force multiplier effect
Positioning
- Core sell: "A managed job search" β the complete loop from search to reply to interview
- Differentiator: The dedicated career inbox (no competitor has this)
- Hero message: "Your job search, fully handled"
- The 3 high-ROI channels: SEO/AEO + social media content + UGC/influencers
Metrics
The goal in one line: β¬20k MRR within 12 months at ~β¬35 average revenue per user = ~570 active subscribers. With ~30% monthly churn (people cancel when hired), you must add ~170 new paying customers every month to hold that level.
The funnel, backwards:
| Stage | Conversion rate | Volume needed / month |
|---|---|---|
| Impressions | β | ~4,000,000 |
| Visits | 1.6% CTR | ~64,000 |
| Signups | 7% of visits | ~4,500 |
| Activated users | 42% of signups | ~1,900 |
| New paying customers | 9% of activated | ~170 |
| Active subscribers (steady state) | β | ~570 |
| MRR | ARPU β¬35 | β¬20,000 |
Marketing budget:
| Channel | β¬/month | Expected CAC |
|---|---|---|
| Affiliates / influencers (30% rev-share) | β | ~β¬27 (success-based) |
| Paid ads (testing + retargeting only) | 0 | 0 β¬ |
| SEO / free tools / backlinks | 500-1000 | β¬5β15 (after 4β6 mo) |
| Tools + PR | 200 | β |
| Total | β¬700β1200 | Blended ~β¬30β40 |
Key constraints:
| Fact | Consequence |
|---|---|
| LTV β β¬90β100 (β¬35 Γ ~2.5β3 months) | CAC must stay under ~β¬35 β ads can't be the main channel |
| SEO ramps in 4β6 months | Months 1β4 rely on influencers + SEO |
| Growth ramp: ~β¬8k MRR month 3 β β¬20k month 7β9 | Budget β¬15k total before it's self-sustaining |
| Cut churn 30%β20% (pause feature, 6-mo plans) | Need only ~115 new customers/month instead of 170 |
| Lift freeβpaid 4%β6% of signups | Same effect β every upstream number drops by a third |
Bottom line: ~4M impressions β ~170 new customers/month β β¬20k MRR by month 7β9, spending β¬4.5β7.5k/month. The cheapest growth isn't more traffic β it's fixing churn and activation.
Funnel
Stage 0 β Positioning
Customer avatar: The employed-but-stuck or recently laid-off professional, 20β45, applying across borders or open to relocation/remote β someone juggling multiple markets, languages, or time zones, who doesn't have 15 hours a week to grind applications and doesn't want job-search chaos leaking into their personal inbox. Urgency is high (visa clocks, severance running out, burnout in current role). They've tried LinkedIn Easy Apply and gotten silence.
- Avatar A: The stressed worker facing layoffs.
- Avatar B: The recent college grad with a blank resume.
- Avatar C: The mid-career pivot-seeker.
What you're really selling: Not resumes, not auto-apply. You're selling a managed job search β the feeling of having someone running the whole campaign end to end while you only show up for interviews. The mailbox is the proof: the search literally has its own address that isn't the user's life. Your product messaging should target short-term personal goals (e.g., "Land an interview next week," "Rewrite your resume in 5 minutes", "Get a job fast").
Positioning in a few words: The end-to-end AI career agent β from first search to final reply, in any market.
Positioning statement (internal): For ambitious job seekers searching across markets and languages, CareerBoom is the AI career agent that runs the entire job search β scanning 5M+ new jobs a month, tailoring and submitting every application, and managing employer responses in a dedicated career inbox β so the only thing left on your plate is the interview. Unlike auto-apply tools that stop at "submitted," CareerBoom owns the full loop, globally.
Homepage hero direction: something in the spirit of "Your job search, fully handled." / "It finds the jobs, writes the applications, applies, and manages the replies. You just show up to interviews." β leading with the complete loop and the mailbox, which no competitor can echo back at you.
Differentiation hierarchy for all funnel copy: (1) the only agent with a dedicated career inbox β the loop is actually closed; (2) built for the global market β localize and apply in any language, any country; (3) volume with fit β 5M jobs/month with a match threshold you control. Auto-apply, resume builder, tracker, and extension become table-stakes proof points, not headlines β everyone has them, so they can't carry your positioning.

Stage 1 β Awareness
How to increase awareness of CareerBoom brand. Impressions from different channels.
Target: 5'000'000 impressions/month
Your channel list is complete but that's the problem: 12+ channels executed by a small team means all of them done at 20% quality. Pick three and dominate them. For a job-search AI in 2026, the highest-ROI trio is almost certainly:
1. SEO + AEO
Includes search engines (Bing, Google, Yandex, Baidu) and LLMs (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, Gemini).
Target: 500'000 impressions/month
Tools:
AEO is mostly a byproduct of good SEO. The way to pop up on both is similar:
- High quality do-follow backlinks
- Press releases (Reuters, Business Insider, Yahoo Finance, Bloomberg, AP news, Fortune)
- Keywords
GEO β most cited domains where we should be present:
- Youtube
- Quora
- Github
- Medium
Keywords:
- ai apply for jobs
- ai to apply for jobs
- ai apply reviews
- auto apply ai
- auto apply for jobs
Competitor keywords:
- sonara ai
- lazyapply
- loopcv
- simplify
- aiapply
Action points:
- Add to multiple directories
- Buy press releases
- Find keywords with Semrush and Ahrefs based on positioning and competitors
- Add comparison pages ("CareerBoom vs LazyApply vs Simplify")
- PSO ("resume examples per role", "how to get a job at [company]")
- Add free tools:
- Gross to net salary calculator
- LinkedIn profile analyzer
- Job search with AI using your LinkedIn (Joboom)
- ATS resume checker
- Create interview questions from job posting + LinkedIn
- Discord community with career suggestions
- Cover letter generator
- "Is my job at risk?" calculator
- Layoff tracker ("The job situation room")
- Tools from resumeup.ai and resumly.ai
- Create multiple regional domains, same app and DB: careerboom.it, .es, .pl, .fr, .de, .pt, .nl, .uk, .sv, .dk, .au, .mx, .hk, .nz, .ca, .br, .cn
- Create multiple brands, same app and DB. Buy aged domains:
- autoapply.careers
- apply.jobs
- autosearch.jobs
- careeragent.jobs
- Check backlinks of competitors and reach out to get backlinks
2. Social Media Content
Tools:
Content formats:
- Memes
- Funny videos
- Slides
- Stories that slightly mention the product
Channels:
- Short video content: TikTok / Instagram Reels / YouTube Shorts / Pinterest / X / Facebook with AI UGC
- Articles, long posts on X and threads
- Nice infographics on Pinterest
- Announcements on X, Threads and Google Business
3. UGC / Influencer and Clipping
Tools:
- Facebook Ad Library
Micro career creators (10kβ100k followers) with affiliate codes, not one expensive macro deal.
4. Referral Programs
Tools:
Create referral programs for:
- Users: share and when someone buys, get 100 free auto-applies
- Influencers: 30% cut on referred purchases
I think I can build this by myself instead of using Rewardful at the beginning. Reach out to hundreds of influencers by email. Particularly effective on YouTube.
5. Cold Email Marketing
Server setup for 200k marketing emails/month:
| Component | Choice |
|---|---|
| VPS | Hostinger (check IP blacklisting first) |
| MTA | Postfix / Postal / mailcow |
| Campaigns | Listmonk |
| Auth (DNS) | SPF + DKIM + DMARC + PTR + TLS |
| Domain | Cousin domain, links redirect to careerboom.ai |
| Monitoring | Google Postmaster Tools + Microsoft SNDS |
| Feedback | Bounce/complaint webhooks β Listmonk suppression |
| Pre-send | List validation (ZeroBounce) |
| Discipline | Warm-up ramp + segment by recency |

6. Directories
7. Leverage Personal Brand
Create personal brand on LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok about building companies.
8. Comment on Reddit
Tools:
Step 1: Warm up your account (10 karma with helpful comments, no self-promo early) Step 2: Find the right subreddits (curated lists + check where competitors get mentioned) Step 3: Spot relevant posts (avoid spammy, low-engagement, or competitor promos) Step 4: Comment the right way (add value first, mention product only when relevant, drop links only if asked, mix product mentions with pure advice) Step 5: Track results (3-day sprints, then pause, compare subreddit groups by visits & signups)
9. Ads
TikTok, Google, Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, Snapchat, LinkedIn
10. YC Hacker News
11. GitHub
Do a pull request to "Awesome" git repositories and add www.careerboom.ai
Stage 2 β Visits
How to convert impressions to visits on careerboom.ai.
This isn't a separate set of channels from Stage 1 β it's the click-through rate of Stage 1. What's needed:
-
SEO + AEO
- Compelling titles/meta descriptions for SEO pages
- Ensure AI reads and shares careerboom.ai services together with competitors (write blog articles and comparison pages)
- Keep a good backlink profile to increase authority and AEO pick-up probability
-
Social Media Content
- Hooks in the first second of video
- Link-in-bio path matching content (resume roast TikTok β resume builder landing page)
- Clear call to action
-
UGC / Influencer
- Ensure the influencer is in the correct niche
-
Referral Programs
- More influencers = more referral visits. They find the best way to convert.
-
Cold Email Marketing
- Call people by name
- Click-bait subject lines
- Multiple domains for deliverability
- Legit and interesting, not scam-like
Stage 3 β Signups
How to convert visits to completed signups.
1. Increase trust
- "As seen on Yahoo Finance, Business Insider, Reuters..."
- GDPR compliant and ISO
- 100k auto-applied
- Reviews with social proof and outcomes (Trustpilot, Reviews.io, Chrome reviews, Google Business reviews)
- "Maria got 4 interviews in 2 weeks" β testimonials with names, faces, specific results
- Video testimonials (convert best)
- Trigger review request at moment of delight
- Followers on social media
- "Our users got hired at"
2. Reduce signup friction
- GitHub
- Apple
Stage 4 β Activation
Convert signed-up users to actual users experiencing core value β the "aha moment."
This is where your money is.
- Smooth and clear onboarding
- Drive straight into LinkedIn/CV import immediately after signup
- Show matched jobs with scores immediately β "27 jobs match you" within two minutes
- Give free users something real: e.g. 5 free auto-applies. A user who has seen 5 applications go out has felt the product work.
- Lifecycle emails keyed to behavior, not a generic drip
- Instrument the funnel (PostHog/Mixpanel/Amplitude)
Metric: % of signups reaching activation within 24h. Moving from 30% to 50% typically does more for revenue than doubling ad spend.
Stage 5 β Purchase
Convert users to paid customers.
- Paywall at the moment of desire, not at signup. The natural trigger: user has burned their free applies, sees 20 more high-match jobs queued, and hits "Upgrade to keep applying."
- Job seekers have a short, urgent window β monthly plans often outperform annual
- Checkout abandonment flow: email/offer within an hour of drop-off, one reminder at 24h, small time-limited discount
Metrics: freeβpaid conversion (2β5% typical for freemium; good products hit 8β10%), time from signup to purchase.
Stage 6 β Retain, Upsell, and Refer
Success = churn, because users cancel when they get hired. Don't fight it β weaponize it.
- Turn hires into marketing. When someone lands a job, that's your ask moment: Trustpilot review, LinkedIn post, testimonial, referral code for their still-job-hunting friends.
- Pause instead of cancel: "Got the job? Pause your account free β reactivate anytime." People change jobs every 2β4 years; a paused account is a future reactivation.
- Upsells within the search: interview prep, salary negotiation coaching, priority application slots, LinkedIn profile optimization
Metrics: churn reason (hired vs. dissatisfied β track separately, they demand opposite responses), referral rate, reactivation rate.
